Strengths:

ASP service
Optima is an ASP (Application Service Provision) service, which means that all you need to use it is a computer with Internet access. In other words, the service is available practically anywhere as long as you have network connections – abroad, on customer premises, at home or at your summer cottage. You don’t need to worry about server maintenance and upgrades. Furthermore, your information is safe thanks to the daily back-up routine.

Flexible architecture
One Optima environment can accommodate an unlimited amount of different workspaces with desired access rights and tools assigned to different user groups. The structure is based on small elements, or objects, that can be combined into entities that are easy to edit and duplicate. In order to guarantee flexibility and adjustability, the objects have separate Internet addresses, and read and write rights can even be set for each user.

Ease of use
The Optima user interface is developed in co-operation with our customers and on the basis of usability surveys. It has been praised for its consistency and ease of use. The Optima workspace can be constructed to guide the user to the next step “by hand” but, on the other hand, experienced users can be granted even such liberties as creating their own entities.

All presentation forms
Optima supports all file formats. You can add text, voice, image, and video files to the environment, regardless of file type.

Versatile tools
In addition to saving and editing material, Optima also provides tools that enable versatile interaction in the form of discussion boards, blog-type journals, e-mail announcements, and chat rooms. There are also efficient tools for distributing and returning assignments, conducting queries and surveys, giving feedback, and monitoring and evaluating users.

Distributed work
As a data-secure and flexible system, Optima offers excellent support for distributed work. It makes work across organisational borders easy, as the service runs over an Internet connection. Different versions of documents with editor information are automatically stored, and old versions can easily be restored when necessary. Furthermore, the entire change history of documents can be displayed thanks to a feature allowing comments made on different document versions to be kept as a part of the document.
